About Things With Wings

A community built for UK wildlife photographers

What We Do

Things With Wings is a community platform for UK wildlife photographers of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned birder with a 600mm prime or a casual walker who spotted something beautiful on a Sunday stroll, this is your place to share, discover, and celebrate the natural world.

Every photo you upload contributes to our shared field guide — a living, community-built record of UK wildlife. You can track the species you've photographed, explore sightings on our community map, and compete in weekly photo-of-the-week votes.

The Field Guide

Our Field Guide covers over 390 UK wildlife species across birds, butterflies, moths, insects, mammals, reptiles, and plants. Each species page includes habitat information, diet, mating seasons, conservation status, and community photos — all indexed and searchable.

Community Map

Our community map plots wildlife sightings from across the UK. Photographers can choose to share their GPS coordinates, creating a real-time picture of where and when species are being spotted.

Membership Tiers

Every account starts as a free Fledgling member — you can upload up to 5 photos a week, use AI-powered species identification, and get full access to the gallery, map, and Field Guide from day one. No card required.

Quality contributors are promoted to Spotter for free, unlocking higher upload limits and direct messages. If you want more from the start, Warden (£5.99/mo) and VIP (£9.99/mo) unlock unlimited uploads, storage, and collections straight away — see the full breakdown on the upgrade page.
